This week the Government announced the successful bidders for the second round of Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) funding.  Working closely with clients, the Chirpy Heat team has used its in- depth sector knowledge to secure 12 revenue grants, bringing our total to 28 successful revenue bids in funding windows 1 and 2. That’s a 100% success rate!

Chris D’Arcy, Senior Consultant at Chirpy Heat says ‘This is a huge boost to the sector that will directly impact on improving heat networks, reducing costs for landlords and customers and help to deliver future regulation’.

In this second round of funding:

• 63% of the funding for optimisation studies went to Chirpy Heat social housing clients
• 20% of the private sector awarded revenue funding went to Chirpy Heat clients
• Overall, 12 of the 43 heat networks awarded funding had applications completed by Chirpy Heat.

The HNES funding will make a big difference to those schemes that have secured the funding but there many more that are not delivering on their promise. Delivering guaranteed scheme performance will be a major part of full regulation that is on the horizon next year and now is the time to start planning for this and getting those poor performing schemes sorted.

Chirpy Heat will now be working with our clients to deliver both round one and two optimisation studies in the coming months that will improve the performance, lower carbon and lower costs to create simply better heat networks.
